  It would be in 1960 that Corvette would enter the famous 24 Hours of Le Mans, lending the brand international esteem. At the suggestion of Zora Arkus-Duntov, Briggs Cunningham bought three Corvettes equipped with all the racing goodies from a dealership in New York City and had these cars modified into real racers at his shop. Cunningham’s fear of failure was epic, one story of which dictated that all the cars have not only heavy-duty fuel pumps but two electric fuel pumps with dashboard-mounted switches as backup. The story of the 1, 2 and 3 cars is legend, but this was largely the year that Corvette proved that it could run with the world’s best. Due to this Corvette sales surpassed 10,000 for the first time, a full six years after the St. Louis plant was refitted in anticipation of reaching that level of production. Facing the AMA ban on racing activities and budget restrictions on new development, engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov turned his attention to refining Corvette’s overall ride. The result was a complete overhaul that involved using softer springs, controlling cornering roll with a stiffer front sway bar and, for the first time in an American production car, adding one at the rear.

  This beautifully restored 1960 Corvette is finished in the highly desirable Sateen Silver complemented very nicely by White Coves. The restoration quality of this Corvette is excellent with the paint having been wet sanded and polished to beautiful show quality shine as well as outstanding exterior bright work. The quality continues to the interior of this Corvette finished in Black complemented by plenty of brightwork especially around the cars Wonderbar radio, clock, and manual transmission. Under the hood is the highly desirable numbers matching 283/290 HP Rochester fuel-injected V-8 engine with a T-10 4-speed manual transmission sending power to a Positraction rear end. The toothy grille, terrific trim, split bumpers up front, are in beautiful shape– it's all what you expect when buying an upper echelon example of America's sports car. With just the right stance, sitting on the original 15” steel wheels w/ dog-dish hubcaps, wrapped in Firestone 6.70 x 15 black-wall tires, just like she did 58 years ago.
