By 1959 the Corvette had well established itself as "America's Sports Car". The closest competitor it had, the Ford Thunderbird had already grown to a 4 seater coupe. The performance also continued to grow with the availability of a wide range of 283 small block V8's with 4 speed manual transmissions.

This particular example has been nicely restored in traditional Roman Red with snow crest white coves and a red interior. It is finished with a matching white soft top and wide white wall tires giving a sporty yet classy image. Having been through a previous restoration, this car is very nicely detailed and ready to be driven and enjoyed. The paint shows to have been polished, the chrome and aluminum trim show to be in excellent condition including all window trim pieces and of course the large "tooth" grille. The red interior shows equally well right down to the full set of factory gauges. Open the engine hood and you will find a rare 270hp, dual quad version of the 283 V8 engine. Chevrolet did not start putting VIN numbers on engines for the Corvette until the 2^nd half of 1960. If you break down all the engine numbers for this car, they line up perfectly as being the correct and proper motor for this specific car, right down to the intake and carbs. Having been previously owned by a collector, this Corvette is a beautifully maintained example that runs and drives as well as it looks, a perfect car for the enthusiast or collector searching for a very nice high horse power, dual quad 1959 Corvette.
