1957 Ford Thunderbird Torch Red Paint, Porthole Hardtop, Frame-Off Restored
LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1957 Ford Thunderbird
Ford was ultimately compelled into the two-seater sports-car craze by the Corvette. The Thunderbird was the perfect car to compete in the newly created two-seater marketplace. Sold to the American buyer as an upscale personal sports car, this sporty new convertible was designed to be comfortable and convenient with an emphasis on luxury. The Thunderbird became a wildly instant success and outsold the Corvette by a shocking 23-to-1 ratio in its amazing first production year. This ‘57 Thunderbird is a culmination of everything learned over three years of producing Ford two-seaters, and it presents in absolutely stunning fashion.
The example offered here for sale was built on January 25th, 1957 sold new in San Jose, California. The car has benefited from a previous frame off restoration and presented in Torch Red exterior paint, complemented by a Colonial White interior and White porthole hardtop. Under the hood, is the optional D-code 312 cu in V8 engine with optional Ford-O-Matic automatic transmission. This beautiful car also features many factory options sought after on early Thunderbirds including thunderbird engine dress up kit, rear fender skirts, town and country radio, four way power seat, power windows, power steering, heater delete, padded dash, porthole hardtop, windshield washers and tonneau cover. To finish off the nicely restored car is a set of full wheel covers with new wide white wall bias ply tires.
This Thunderbird is finished in a timeless and extremely collectible color combination, sure to grab some attention on the road. It also comes documented with restoration pictures and invoices. A very nice example of 50’s era styling and in a two-seater roadster loaded with power options, ready for Sunday evening cruises.
