1957 Corvette Roadster

Dual Quad 283

When Chevrolet unveiled the two-seat Corvette in 1953, critics loved the Motorama-show-car styling, but panned the lackluster powertrain (a Chevy six and a two-speed Powerglide automatic transmission).Chevrolet listened to the enthusiasts, went to work, and saved the Corvette from almost certain cancellation. By 1955, the all-new Chevy V8 was installed. In 1956, the styling was made even cleaner and new engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov was busy making Corvette competitive on the racetrack. It all came together in 1957 with styling was untouched, but the new V8 with optional four-speed manual transmission made Corvette a fierce competitor on the track. Chevrolet advertising called the 1957 'A new American classic,' and this boast was right on money. These changes resulted in a very strong 80% growth and the new high output 283 engine became an automotive legend for performance achieving 1 HP per cubic inch on the fuel injected model.

This beautiful example is finished in Polo white with silver grey coves that accentuate the striking body lines with complimentary red interior. The car has previously been treated to a restoration and has since been kept and maintained over the years. It is powered by a strong running 283CID V8 with the optional dual quad setup rated at 270HP with 4 speed manual transmission and dual exhaust. This car comes with matching removable hard top and white retractable soft top.  It has factory correct rims with spinner hub caps and wide white wall tires for the classy look of the 50's. If your desire is to obtain a nicely maintained solid axle Corvette to drive and enjoy, this car could be an excellent option for you.
