  The last entries in the classic ‘50s Chevrolet triumvirate, the 1957 full-size models were among the most influential cars of the decade. The ’57 was the most powerful, endowed with a bored-out version of the 265 CI small-block V-8 now displacing 283 CI and available in a range of configurations beginning with the 2-barrel-equipped 162 HP version all the way up to the famed Rochester fuel-injected unit producing 283 HP. It was also the most stylish, its lines having been sharpened and honed to timeless perfection. The 1957’s real aesthetic magic was in the details: a heavier, bolder front bumper and shapely chromed grille surround, deeply hooded headlights set into chrome bezels with openings that delivered fresh air to the ventilation system, dual chromed stylized jet hood ornaments, and those famous sharp vertical tail fins ending in beautifully designed tail- and reverse-light clusters. When fully optioned to peak luxury and power, the Bel Air managed to hone in on Cadillac territory, a fact that caused no small amount of alarm in that luxury division’s top ranks.

  Powered by the “FC” code 283 CI V8 with 4-barrel carburetor and dual exhaust, this beautifully restored Bel Air features sharp Onyx Black Exterior paint with a red and silver interior incorporating heater and defrost, a wonderbar radio and clock. In addition to a 2-speed Powerglide automatic transmission, power steering and brakes, power windows, dual rear antennas, and a power convertible top, it is well dressed with gold-anodized trim, wheel skirts, full-size spinner wheel covers and wide whitewall tires. To keep the car cool during hot summer days modern upgrades like aftermarket radiator, electric fans and overflow tank were added.
