1953 Oldsmobile Fiesta Convertible
In the 1950's America was producing some of the worlds most iconic and beautiful cars. Large sculpted bodies, gleaming chrome, magnificent hood ornaments, bold tail fins and of course, white wall tires. During this time, General Motors was dominating the American car market and constantly pushed the boundaries with their various brands to show they were leading the way forwards. Along with the Cadillac Eldorado and Buick Skylark, 1953 brought a limited-production Olds convertible, the Fiesta, a $5717 midyear addition to the Ninety-Eight line. The Fiesta was clearly a styling preview for the next generation of Oldsmobiles, with its wraparound 'panoramic' windshield that would later be seen on all models until the 1960s.
The 1953 Oldsmobile Fiesta featured here is a exceptional example of a concept vehicle that made it to production. One of only 458 ever built, with few examples surviving, this wonderfully detailed automobile possesses an array of features to make every bit of the driving experience more pleasurable. The car offered is presented in a two tone Alpine white and Turquoise paint. This paint colour is very eye catching and is well suited to the top down cruiser. Chrome bumpers, and multiple trim lines, finish the car off with upscale style and class. Every piece on the vehicle has been carefully crafted, for example the hood ornament has a striking resemblance to a jet, which is heightened by the rocket style tail lights. Even the door handles feature exquisite details not found on modern vehicles. Inside, the roomy interior gives way to comfortable seating accommodations, functioning gauges, and a spectacular view of the car's classy design. The interior is in outstanding restored condition and the two tone custom leather interior continues throughout the cabin, from the seats right down to the carpets. This 1953 is truly a beautiful car that will forever be cherished by collectors and enthusiasts.
Under the hood is a special 303 cu in 170 horsepower "Rocket" V-8 which distinguished the Fiesta from the normal Ninety-Eight ragtop. The factory hopped up engine featured a larger carburetor and bigger air cleaner, the Rocket V8 also benefited from a new downdraft fuel system. The show car, turned production car, held an impressive list of standard accessories, many of which were unavailable up until that year. Along with its standard Hydra-Matic transmission, the features included power steering, power brakes, super deluxe radio, heater/defroster, whitewall tires, backup lights, hydraulic servos for windows and seats, and the Autronic Eye that automatically controlled operation of the headlights.
Being in restored condition, the car became apart of the McMullen Collection's 1953 GM "Grand Slam" or "Triple Crown" (1953 - Eldorado, Skylark, Fiesta and Corvette) and it, like the others, remaining in impressive overall condition. The next owner after Mr. McMullen was a true perfectionist and felt he would restore the car completely. The end result is a beautiful frame off nut and bolt rotisserie restoration with great attention to detail. Since completion it has seen only test miles and was housed in a climate control environment. This highly sought after, valuable, historic, low production example is sure to please the collector who is looking for one of the most rare and stylish 1950s Oldsmobile models in existence. Additionally, as one of the original "Triple Crown" GM motor cars, this Fiesta Convertible is a highly desirable car that would make for an impressive addition to any collection of important postwar motor cars.
