LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1953 Buick Skylark
A landmark in GM’s golden age of design, the 1953 Buick Skylark stands as one of the most iconic Motorama-inspired automobiles ever produced. Built to celebrate Buick’s 50th anniversary and showcased as one of GM’s premier 1953 Motorama star cars, the Skylark embodied Harley Earl’s bold design language and hand-crafted luxury. This particular car has been restored to an extraordinary standard, benefiting from a no-expense-spared, frame-off restoration that elevates it far beyond typical quality. Every component cosmetic and mechanical has been meticulously rebuilt, refinished, or replaced to achieve a level of detail that rivals the finest examples in existence.
Finished in its correct Code 51 Carlsbad Black, the car presents with a deep, mirror-like gloss that reflects the precision of its body preparation and paintwork. The Code 67 white leather interior with black inserts has been fully restored using premium materials and craftsmanship, recreating the rich look and feel synonymous with Buick’s top-tier specialty models of 1953. All brightwork, chrome, trim, and stainless components have been restored to show-quality presentation, complementing the elegant proportions and sculpted Motorama lines. This example is nicely optioned with power windows, power top, power steering, power brakes gauges and radio.
Mechanically, the restoration is equally impressive. Buick’s 322ci Fireball OHV V8 has been completely rebuilt and detailed to factory-correct presentation, delivering smooth and effortless power through the Twin Turbine Dynaflow automatic transmission. The chassis and suspension—including the independent front suspension, live rear axle, and 4-wheel hydraulic drum brakes—have been restored with exceptional accuracy, resulting in a car that drives as beautifully as it presents.
As a limited-production, hand-built design icon, the 1953 Skylark remains one of Buick’s most significant creations. This example, restored to an unparalleled standard, represents an opportunity to acquire one of the finest, most beautifully finished 1953 Skylarks available anywhere.
