1951 Lincoln Cosmopolitan

Two Time National Award Winner

In 1949, the new Lincolns were released to the public. Styled very similar to its Mercury cousin, the Lincoln Cosmopolitan was aimed at a higher end client and was easily recognizable by its specific front grille. Using a 337 cubic inch engine that made 152 horsepower, the Lincoln was a very attractive and great performing car. Also on record of achieving a remarkable for its day, 25 mpg at the Mobil Economy Run of 1951!!This stunning Cosmopolitan is one of only 857 built for the 1951 model year in convertible body style. Finished in very attractive Chantilly Green, a color specific to the convertible that year, the color is beautifully shown in a matching interior with black accents. The car also features several options including, but not limited to power top and power windows, both functioning just as they should. Having previously been restored, this Lincoln has been awarded not once but twice Major Awards from the National Competitions put on by the Lincoln Continental Owners Club. This car has an incredible show history as well as numerous showings and cover pictures in magazines and books. The impressive list is long with numerous showings and in publications such a Continental Comments, Collector Car magazine, Cars of the Fabulous 50's, Classic American Convertibles as well as the LLOC 's Wm Coughlin Trophy. It has also been shown by invitation at Ford Motor Company's Lincoln Division headquarters and at the Pebble Beach Concour D'Elegence in August 1996. And as a true testament to its design, was shown on April 29th 1998 at the  Art School of Design in Pasadena Ca. show of exceptional Automotive Designs for all makes.

One of the best aspects of this car has to be that it drives as beautifully as it shows, a short push of the starter button and the 337 cu in engine comes to life and settles into a smooth idle. It truly is a car that could be used and enjoyed as well as being shown. It has been said that as few as 19 of the 1951 Cosmopolitan Convertible exist today, making this a very rare example of an exquisite automobile, a great addition to any collection or garage.
