LMC is very proud to offer for sale this 1938 Lincoln Zephyr

The 1938 Lincoln-Zephyr stood out as a hallmark of Lincoln’s pursuit of streamlined, modern design. A continuation of the Zephyr series introduced in 1936, the 1938 model further refined the Art Deco aesthetics of its predecessors, retaining the graceful, aerodynamic profile that had become its signature.

Under the hood, it housed a 267-cubic-inch (4.4L) flathead V12 engine, producing 110 horsepower and delivering smooth, effortless performance. Enhancements for the year included improved suspension for superior ride comfort and handling, along with Lincoln’s innovative semi-unitized body construction—boosting structural integrity while reducing weight.

Styling updates for 1938 featured a more prominent waterfall grille, repositioned headlights, and subtly reshaped fenders for a sleeker, more contemporary appearance. Inside, the Zephyr offered impressive luxury for its era, including plush seating, elegant dashboard styling, and finely crafted details that reflected Lincoln’s dedication to refinement.

This particular Zephyr Coupe was assembled on October 29, 1937, and has benefited from a full nut and bolt frame off open check book no expense spared restoration to the highest standards  performed by a renowned marque specialist. The quality of the restoration is second to none and reflected in its numerous accolades: it earned Best of Show and also the prestigious Peter Gregory Award at the Lincoln-Zephyr Owners Club Nationals in Indiana, as well as capturing both AACA Junior and Senior awards. A restoration to this level normally cost in excess of $500,000 at any prominent restoration facility.

The car’s legacy would continue and a true testament to the absolute quality,  as it went on to be a Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance Award Winner.  Since then, it has been carefully preserved and cared for, maintaining an exceptional overall presentation. Finished in deep black over immaculate beige Bedford cord upholstery, the cabin features factory-correct touches like the Art Deco-inspired central instrument panel, grey-painted dashboard, simulated woodgrain window surrounds, Ford Safety Glass, grey-brown carpeting, and tan headliner. Period-correct Firestone Deluxe Champion 7.00-16 tires and an optional Columbia rear axle further highlight the car’s authenticity.

A symbol of pre-war American automotive craftsmanship, the 1938 Lincoln-Zephyr played a pivotal role in shaping the future of Lincoln design, ultimately serving as the basis for the first Lincoln Continental. This example offered with its many incredible concours awards, is truly the finest example on the market providing an opportunity for the discerning collector to add a piece of Art Deco history to their collection. This beautifully restored example is offered complete with concours awards, spare tire, tool kit, and jack.  Rarely do vehicles of this history, combined with this absolute quality ever become available.  For the truly discerning collector who demands only the best.
